My father Frank was a World War II marine and a master craftsman constantly working with his hands.  Side by side, I spent my childhood making and fixing things with him in our garage. What seemed like work at the time, now feels like play and has cultivated a favorite pastime for me...recognizing problems and inventing creative solutions.

The best week of the year is when our family camps together with campfires blazing all the time.  Making kindling was always fun, but my kids swinging a hatchet towards their hands seemed foolish, and the kneeling and bending was harsh.  This problem inspired me to invent Hitch Hatchet.  We now use Hitch Hatchet to make kindling because it is fun, ultraportable, ergonomic, and is far safer than old methods.  If still with us, my dad would be 100 now, and he would have loved to see Hitch Hatchet. It would be the perfect tool to keep his busy hands occupied.
